Never try to swim around evening time! It was a last minute decision to head for a evening swim to chill in such a hot weather and it was a super wrong decision =( The pool was super packed with people cause it was evening which means after work people went for a swim plus it was school holiday season =( Had to share lane with several people which I minded a bit but no choice since it was a public pool -_- There were these 2 boys who don't even know the concept of swimming alone the lane and they had to cut in front of me twice (urgh!) Plus me being the polite swimmer had to make way for incoming swimmers ( all guys! AHH, not gentlemen wan). Aside from all these inconveniences, I was surprised by myself as I swam 30 laps( btw one lap is swimming from one end of the pool to another) especially I haven gone for swimming since the start of the year ^^
Yesterday, went out to meet sharlyn ^^ First we headed down to Arab Street to try this amazing cafe - Next Door Cafe where they sell thin crust pizza, offer 40 types of beer and a sit-back-and-relax ambience. We ordered a single pizza, thinking that it was enough for the two of us and ordered a side dish of drumlets, thinking that the pizza may not be enough for both of us after all but we were wrong. We struggled to finish all the food cause it was damn nice and we took our own sweet time. The food were washed down with me drinking an Australian beer and Sharlyn drinking a bottle of fancy named soda which turned out to be rootbeer (LOL) Seriously, both of us like the place as it got a nice ambience and that it does not include GST !
After that, we headed to Bugis street and the new shopping centre, Illuma to walk off the food and do some window shopping. Although my finanical state is currently at the rock bottom but I gave in to the temptation to buy a pair of bronze flats cause my one and only pair of flats were spoilt (boohoo).Sharlyn on the other hand bought this cute striped dress! After shopping, we headed to Marina Barrage despite of the loomering dark clouds and slight drizzle. Getting to Marina Barrage without a car is indeed a hassle cause we had to take MRT to Marina Bay and from there we had to take a shuttle bus. At first, when we alighted from the MRT we thought that we somehow went to a wrong place cause all the people we saw at the station were foreign workers >.< there ="p">
At the Marina Barrage, there was some kind of family day for a company so the place was damn crowded. There were people having a picnic, flying kites and doing couple stuff ( walk hand in hand). Didn't catch much of the sunset as the weather was a bit cloudy =( nevertheless the weather was still great. Sharlyn and I had a fun time camera-whoring ^^ and commenting about this couple where the girl had the same facial expression in all different poses while her boyfriend trying to capture her on camera=p After a while, we were debating whether to risk the chances of getting hit by friskbie, kite or ball was worth the effort to get to the middle of the field to get a picture of 2 of us with the singapore flyer as the background. In the end we forgo the thought =p We also had a tour of the barrage exhibiton and I love the mirror decorated room and the florescenced bottles! Finally came nightfall and we walked by the fountain and sat a while to admire the night scene of the city.
I'm glad to meet sharlyn and spent such a lovely day with her =) somehow it makes those whirling and depressing thoughts to disappear for a while. perhaps I just need more time...
